Bard
Bard contributes persistent area songs, broad utility, control, and a melee-capable chassis. Its defining EQL system is Symphonic Aura, which automates eligible song pulses while leaving the character free to cast and fight.
Overview
Primary Role
Song-based support, control, and hybrid weapon pressure
Resource Profile
Mana and Endurance interact through spells, stances, and invocations.
Damage Profile
See Melee, Spells, and the class details below for the delivery families this class supplies.
Multiclass Function
The class contributes its skills, spells, passives, stance access, and invocation access to the active loadout; overlapping mechanics use their own cap and stacking rules.
Primary Attributes
- No single attribute defines every Bard loadout. DEX and STR support weapon output, AGI and STA support survival, and CHA remains relevant to charisma-based spell interactions where the spell data uses itT2
- exact EQL charisma formulas are not published
For component definitions, see Stats & Attributes and Attack Resolution.
Class Details
Symphonic Aura
Begins with one passive song slot, pulses eligible songs every six seconds, and proceeds upward from the bottom of the spell bar while the Bard continues other actions. T1
Song upgrade interaction
Spell upgrades affect eligible Bard AoE songs; Empower also applies to those songs after the July 14 patch. T1
Hybrid pressure
Bard can combine weapon attacks with support songs and control rather than choosing a purely martial or purely casting contribution. T2
Group-wide buffs and regeneration
A distinct class contribution that combines with other active-class mechanics according to the applicable stacking and cap rules.
Crowd control and resist support

Strengths by Level Range
These breakpoints identify spells, abilities, or skills that materially change the class’s damage, control, recovery, or group value. They are highlights rather than a complete spell list.T2
Levels 1–19
- Early songs establish area damage, travel speed, recovery, and melee amplification (2: Chords of Dissonance, 5: Selo’s Accelerando, 6: Hymn of Restoration, 10: Anthem de Arms).
- The class becomes useful immediately because songs can supply damage or support without consuming another class’s spell list.
Levels 20–34
- Charm and sustained resource support broaden the class from tempo support into encounter control (27: Solon’s Song of the Sirens, 34: Cantana of Soothing).
- These levels are a major breakpoint for builds that convert controlled enemies or longer fights into additional damage.
Levels 35–50
- Late songs add stronger control, melee acceleration, and movement suppression (39: Solon’s Bewitching Bravura, 42: McVaxius’ Berserker Crescendo, 48: Selo’s Chords of Cessation, 49: Selo’s Accelerating Chorus).
- The best damage contribution is often indirect: more attacks, safer uptime, and fewer interrupted burn windows.
Multiclass Synergy Boundaries
- What stacks
- Distinct skills, spells, passives, pets, utility, and stance/invocation access can combine when their own stacking rules permit.
- What does not automatically stack
- Duplicate crowd control, avoidance skills, buffs, and cap-based mechanics do not become additive merely because two classes grant them.
- Evaluation method
- Identify the mechanic supplied by Bard, link to its canonical rule, then compare marginal value against the other two active classes.
Developer Commentary
Official patch notes and developer demonstrations identify the following implemented changes or design boundaries. Statements about planned work remain provisional until shipped.
