AoE Kiter

A movement-and-area-damage shell built around Bard speed and songs, Wizard burst, and Druid snare, roots, healing, and travel utility. T3

Class Framework

Archetype: BRD + WIZ + DRU/ENC
Representative trio used for weapon research: BRD + WIZ + DRU

Variants

Strengths & Weaknesses

Strengths

  • Excellent mobility and area damage
  • Strong outdoor control and travel tools
  • Can disengage or reposition efficiently
  • Multiple damage and crowd-control patterns

Weaknesses

  • Mistakes can expose a fragile caster core
  • Point-blank AoE target limits and geometry matter
  • High threat across many targets increases risk
  • Less effective against summon, root-immune, or cramped encounters

Stances & Invocations

Only one stance and one invocation can be active at a time. The entries below are tactical modes to switch between, not simultaneous effects.

Priority Stances

Evasive
Creates an emergency escape window when a kite pack closes; use the avoided attacks to re-establish distance, root, snare, or evacuate.
Channeler
Protects Wizard and Druid casts when unavoidable hits reach the character, but should be left once the kite is stable to avoid draining both resources.

Priority Invocations

Empowering
The representative Bard/Wizard/Druid shell has two non-hybrid casters, amplifying Wizard and Druid damage; current patches also allow eligible Bard area songs and DoTs to benefit.
Inviolable
A high-cost emergency option for an AoE, evacuation, or control cast that absolutely cannot be interrupted.

Play Pattern

  1. Establish movement control before committing area damage.
  2. Keep routes and reset points clear; do not depend on one control effect.
  3. Use Inviolable for risky casting windows and Empowering for deliberate output phases.

Synergies

These interactions focus on combinations that increase damage uptime, casts per minute, combat-skill throughput, or effective DPS by reducing time spent recovering.

Empowered area damage

Wizard direct damage, Druid DoTs, and eligible Bard area songs can all benefit from Empowering. The two pure casters provide a stronger scalar than a single-caster hybrid shell.

Kite-control chain

Bard movement and control plus Druid snare/root keep targets grouped while Wizard burst shortens the dangerous part of the pull.

Resource cycling

Empowering is the burn mode; Recovery or the base invocation is the reset mode after a large pull.

Failure recovery

Evasive buys movement and casting time when geometry fails, while Inviolable guarantees the one cast that must land to reset the encounter.

Tooltip mechanics and official patch changes are T1 or T2 where documented. Build-performance conclusions and community-tested interaction priorities remain T3 and balance-sensitive.

Top Weapons

SearchWeaponSkillDMG/DelayBase ratio

1HEvensong1H Blunt11/250.440

The table records the highest base-ratio results returned during the July 21, 2026 EQ Legends Tools review for the representative trio at +0. It does not include upgrade scaling, proc value, focus/click/worn Exaltations, shields, encounter-specific effects, or every flexible substitution. T2

Attribute & Equipment Priorities

Ratio is only one weapon criterion. Proc effect, proc level, DEX, damage bonus, required positioning, shield value, and resource demands can make a lower-ratio weapon the better encounter choice.

Confidence Boundary

The mechanical components referenced by this page may be T1 or T2, but the recommendation that they form a strong build is T3. Balance patches, new items, encounter design, and better parse data can change the preferred exact trio without invalidating the broader archetype.
