DoT Attrition

A long-fight architecture using efficient periodic damage, slow, snare, roots, lifetaps, pet pressure, healing, and strong regeneration. T3

Class Framework

Archetype: NEC + SHM + DRU/ENC
Representative trio used for weapon research: NEC + SHM + DRU

Variants

Strengths & Weaknesses

Strengths

  • Excellent sustained damage and resource efficiency
  • Multiple control and recovery layers
  • Strong performance while moving or resetting distance
  • Broad resist-type and debuff coverage

Weaknesses

  • Damage takes time to mature
  • DoT stacking and overwrite rules require discipline
  • Burst windows are weaker than Wizard-centric shells
  • Some bosses resist or invalidate control tools

Stances & Invocations

Only one stance and one invocation can be active at a time. The entries below are tactical modes to switch between, not simultaneous effects.

Priority Stances

Channeler
Allows DoT, Slow, root, lifetap, and heal casts to finish while the build absorbs incidental contact.

Priority Invocations

Empowering
Necromancer, Shaman, and Druid are three non-hybrid casters, producing the maximum current damage scalar; DoTs explicitly benefit under the July 7 changes.
Divine
Druid and Shaman provide two Wisdom classes, so Mana spent on the DoT and debuff rotation also produces a base heal plus one 33% repeat.
Arcane Mastery
Necromancer grants the base cast/recovery and detrimental-Mana reduction; use it when rapid setup and sustained Mana matter more than amplified ticks.

Play Pattern

  1. Apply the highest-value long-duration effects first.
  2. Use slow and positioning to buy the time the DoTs need.
  3. Choose Recovery for repeated pulls; use Arcane Mastery when damage throughput is the constraint.

Synergies

These interactions focus on combinations that increase damage uptime, casts per minute, combat-skill throughput, or effective DPS by reducing time spent recovering.

Maximum DoT amplification

Three pure casters allow Empowering to raise the full multi-line DoT package rather than only one school or one class’s damage.

Slow plus regeneration

Shaman Slow and Druid regeneration reduce incoming pressure while DoTs mature, preserving casting time and Mana.

Divine solo sustain

Every eligible DoT or debuff cast can also repair health, avoiding a separate heal cast during solo attrition.

Front-loaded setup

Arcane Mastery is the alternative when targets die before empowered DoTs reach enough ticks to repay their extra Mana cost.

Tooltip mechanics and official patch changes are T1 or T2 where documented. Build-performance conclusions and community-tested interaction priorities remain T3 and balance-sensitive.

The table records the highest base-ratio results returned during the July 21, 2026 EQ Legends Tools review for the representative trio at +0. It does not include upgrade scaling, proc value, focus/click/worn Exaltations, shields, encounter-specific effects, or every flexible substitution. T2

Attribute & Equipment Priorities

Ratio is only one weapon criterion. Proc effect, proc level, DEX, damage bonus, required positioning, shield value, and resource demands can make a lower-ratio weapon the better encounter choice.

Confidence Boundary

The mechanical components referenced by this page may be T1 or T2, but the recommendation that they form a strong build is T3. Balance patches, new items, encounter design, and better parse data can change the preferred exact trio without invalidating the broader archetype.
