Trigger mechanics
See Combat Rules for proc checks, DEX, estimated procs per minute, delay normalization uncertainty, offhand uncertainty, and Spellblade distinctions.
This page catalogs item proc families, Proc Exaltation compatibility, and selection criteria. Trigger and proc-rate mechanics remain canonical on Combat Rules to avoid maintaining two competing definitions.
This Appendix page is the item-side proc reference: proc categories, source-weapon restrictions, Exaltation transfer, and selection criteria. The canonical trigger and frequency mechanics—including DEX—remain in Combat Rules → Procs.
See Combat Rules for proc checks, DEX, estimated procs per minute, delay normalization uncertainty, offhand uncertainty, and Spellblade distinctions.
Use this page to decide which source proc can legally and usefully be moved to a build's intended weapon.
The current reference utility categorizes weapon procs by combat outcome. A proc can belong to more than one practical role—for example, a lifetap is both damage and recovery. T2
Immediate damage on a successful proc effect.
Applies periodic damage; duration and stacking matter more than the initial event alone.
Restores health to an eligible target, often the wielder.
Deals damage and returns health under the proc spell's rules.
Applies a beneficial persistent effect.
Attempts a control effect that may have level, immunity, or resistance limits.
Can affect multiple eligible targets and may create additional threat or crowd-control risk.
Applies a detrimental non-damage or mixed effect such as resistance, statistic, or attack reduction.
The source weapon's proc becomes removable only after the Proc Exaltation slot is exposed at item rank +4.
Removing it causes the source weapon to lose that proc until the Exaltation is returned.
The destination must expose its +4 Proc slot and share at least one class with the proc Exaltation.
Primary-only or two-handed source restrictions can make the destination primary-only; do not assume every proc can be placed in an offhand weapon.
EQ Legends Tools and EQLWiki both document the +4 threshold. EQLWiki further documents that Exaltation class and source-slot restrictions are applied to the destination item. T2
Current T2 main-hand model: PPM ≈ 0.5 + DEX / 170
Marginal DEX value under that model: each +10 DEX adds approximately 0.059 expected procs per minute.
This is a reference-site estimate, not a published server formula. Weapon delay, haste, offhand checks, attack rounds, extra attacks, and rounding remain unresolved. Use Combat Rules → Dexterity and Estimated Proc Rate for the full table and confidence boundaries. T2
| Question | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| What is the proc's spell level? | Low-level effects may be resisted, capped, or outscaled even when they trigger frequently. |
| What resistance and adjustment apply? | A high tooltip value has little practical value if the target frequently resists or is immune. |
| What target and area are used? | Self, current target, target's target, and area effects produce different threat and safety profiles. |
| Does the effect stack? | DoTs, debuffs, buffs, and stuns can conflict with spells or other proc sources. |
| What classes and slots survive insertion? | The proc Exaltation can narrow the destination's classes or force primary-only use. |
| What weapon is sacrificed? | Proc value must be weighed against base ratio, hand eligibility, damage bonus, statistics, and other Exaltations. |
| How much DEX does the build carry? | Under the current model, DEX changes expected frequency; proc-focused builds value it more than one-off utility builds. |
EQ Legends Tools Procs filters by up to three classes, weapon slot, proc category, proc level, effect name, and weapon name. Its item database is updated frequently but explicitly warns that some tooltips may lag live data; verify the final source weapon and proc spell in game before investing four duplicate merges. T2
